India: Health insurance premium rates rise by up to 50% in past year

More than half (52%) of the respondents to a survey say that their personal health insurance premiums increased by over 25% in the last 12 months.
This proportion consisted of 21% who saw a premium hike of at least 50% and 31% whose premium rose by 25-50%, according to the survey which was conducted by LocalCircles.
Of the remaining 48% of respondents, 31% indicated an increase of 10-25%, while 2% saw a 0-10% increase and 15% said that premium rates were the same as in the previous year.
The survey polled 11,000 health insurance policy owners in 324 districts across India. 67% of respondents were men while 33% were women. A
