Reinsurers urged to prepare for public sector cyber attacks

The reinsurance industry must brace itself for cyber attacks targeting government and election infrastructure in 2024 according to a leading cyber risk analysis.
Cyber safety and security firm CyberCube’s most recent Global Threat Outlook report warns that government agencies and officials must increase cyber security defences, enhance election integrity safeguards and work closely with cyber security experts to mitigate these threats.
More than 60 countries, as well as the EU, are holding elections this year; together, these elections will involve nearly half the world’s population.
CyberCube cyber threat intelligence principal William Altman said, “With the US presidential elections, the public sector becomes an increasingly attractive target for malicious actors seeking to sow chaos and undermine faith in democracy. In some cases, the same cyber threat actors attempting to meddle in the US presidential election will also be active in other countries.” A
