Guest of honour
Singapore deputy prime minister, minister for trade and industry and chairman of the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) Gan Kim Yong has been named as the guest-of-honour and will deliver the keynote address.
“We are privileged to have deputy prime minister Gan Kim Yong grace SIRC 2024,” SRA chair Marc Haushofer said. “His presence represents the significant role of reinsurance in Singapore’s economic landscape and underscores the strong relationship the industry enjoys with the MAS.”
Schedule to run from 4-7 November at the Sands Expo and Convention Centre in Singapore, the SIRC will celebrate its 20th edition together with a distinguished line-up of experts, industry leaders and professionals from around the world.
This year’s conference theme is ‘Revolutionize Reinsurance!’
The keynote address will be followed by a conversation with Swiss Re Group CEO Andreas Berger, marking his first conference appearance in Asia in his new role. This will be a one-to-one exchange with Mr Berger, delving into his perspectives and vision on climate change, technology and talent management as he charts a path for the group.
Day two
The second day of the conference will open with a panel entitled ‘Mastering a sustainable future in turbulent times: A view from the top’ that will explore strategies and insights necessary to navigate the complexities of the current reinsurance landscape.
The discussion will look at how the industry can remain agile and adaptable in times or rising risks and will include Munich Re member of the board of management Achim Kassow, Lloyd’s chief commercial officer Dawn Miller and Citizens JMP managing director Matthew Carletti. The session will be moderated by MSIG Asia (Singapore) CEO Clemens Philippi.
The afternoon will feature a panel on ‘The fight for talent: Transforming perceptions towards (re)insurance’, which will cover challenges and strategies for attracting and retaining talent within the reinsurance sector to ensure sustainable future growth.
The session will examine how the industry can reshape and reposition itself to appeal to the next generation of professionals while fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace.
The panel will feature AIA Singapore CEO Wong Sze Keed, Guy Carpenter director of operations, global operations Valerie Badcock, Munich Re regional head of human resources (Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa) Moira Roberts and Selion Global founder Thomas Hofer.
The session will be moderated by Partner Re Asia Pacific P&C CEO James Beedle.
Day three
The third day of the conference will focus on AI and data management, with the latter discussed in the Asian context. Both panels ‘Can AI revolutionise the industry?’ and ‘The Asia forum: The devil is in the data: An essential element to revolutionise our industry’ will see industry experts share insights and explore how these innovations can drive the reinsurance sector forward. The speaker line-up will be announced later.
SRA executive director Jeslyn Tan said, “This conference expresses the industry’s urgent need to evolve and address diverse economic and environmental challenges, paving the way ahead for all stakeholders.”
