The estimated insurance losses from Severe Tropical Cyclone Marcia which hit Queensland last Friday stand at A$53.4 million (US$41.77 million) so far, according to the Insurance Council of Australia (ICA) which represents the general insurance industry Down Under. As at 9 am yesterday (Queensland time), 8,950 claims had been lodged by policyholders affected by the cyclone.
