Thailand:Regulator encourages youths to become insurance communicators

| 30 Jan 2025

Thailand's insurance regulator, the Office of Insurance Commission (OIC), revealed that it recognises the potential and power of the new generation of Thai society, which has developed to be more up to date with the times with skills in technology, learning and effective communication.

Thus, the OIC wants to encourage youth to gain knowledge and understanding of insurance in order to communicate and transfer the knowledge to their families, communities and society.

This year, the OIC will upgrade and drive the insurance youth genius project that was implemented in previous years to “Insurefluencer the New GEN” to expand the target group network and push insurance knowledge to students. There will be activities to promote knowledge in the form of boot camp, surveys of various types of insurance and organising learning resources in schools/educational institutions. There will be a competition to select outstanding insurance model schools. In addition to receiving cash prizes, the OIC will organise special activities to prepare for university entrance exams, which will be beneficial for further education or employment.

In 2024, the OIC organised a special activity “Insurance Teachers and Insurance for TCAS” to give to students in schools that won first and second places in the 2024 National Outstanding Insurance Model School Contest.

“The OIC is committed and intends to organise activities to promote and support insurance knowledge for the public and society continuously so that all sectors are aware and see the importance of risk management through insurance. However, for the new generation insurance communicators project which will take place in 2025, the OIC expects that it will benefit the young people as they enter quality adulthood to create sustainable growth for the country,” OIC secretary-general Chuchat Pramulpol said.
