Vietnam:Insurer promotes safety skills in schools

| 21 May 2025

Tokio Marine Insurance Vietnam has launched the annual 'safety skills sharing' programme for secondary school students.

Through this activity the insurer is keen to equip the young generation with essential safety skills to protect themselves and assist those around them in the face of common risks such as drowning, fire incidents, and natural disasters.

Data from the country’s ministry of health, for the period 2016-2024, revealed that on an average more than 2,000 children die in the country from drowning every year.

Recognising the urgency, Tokio Marine took the initiative to provide school students with basic knowledge to help them understand the causes of accidents and how to effectively prevent them. Students actively participated in discussions, shared opinions, and learned self-rescue swimming skills as well as how to respond in emergencies involving drowning victims. Students also explored the causes and impacts of earthquakes and were guided through essential safety measures.

Tokio Marine has also extended the programme to university students and will continue to roll out community-based initiatives that contribute to building a safe, healthy, and sustainable society.
