MS Amlin, the Lloyd's global (re)insurer, has announced the opening of a new Australian branch office in Sydney, subject to Lloyd's approval, and the appointment of Matt Botfield as head of Australia and New Zealand.
A growing proportion of risks written by the Asia Pacific team stems from Australia and New Zealand. As part of its growth agenda, the company is setting up a branch office to give it on the ground presence and impact, MS Amlin said in a media statement yesterday.
The new office will be a branch of MS Amlin’s Asia Pacific Reinsurance business, MS Amlin Pacific Pte Ltd.
Mr Botfield will support the existing client portfolio in Australia and New Zealand and ongoing broker relationships managed by the Asia Pacific team in Singapore. As well as overseeing new business development to help further facilitate growth, he will utilise MS Amlin’s broader underwriting capabilities to develop solutions for clients in the region.
MS Amlin has a strong and growing reinsurance presence in the Asia Pacific market, offering reinsurance solutions across the majority of its product lines, including casualty, property and speciality covers. These solutions are already available through conventional reinsurance structures as well as via its ILS offering.
MS Amlin Underwriting Limited is a leading global (re)insurer, part of the global top-10 insurance group MS&AD, with operations in the Lloyd’s of London, Middle East and Asia markets.
