Thailand: Insurance to be promoted to foreign migrant workers

The Office of Insurance Commission (OIC) is working with other government agencies to promote insurance for foreign workers in Thailand.
 
There are currently 2.19m registered foreign workers and thousands more undocumented. The authorities wish to introduce insurance plans as risk-management tools for those foreign workers who are not covered by the Thai social security system, reported Thailand Post.
 
The OIC is working with the ministry of labour to meet this goal. Meanwhile, in Myanmar, state-owned Myanma Insurance has tied up with the Myanmar Overseas Employment Agencies Federation to offer a life insurance plan to Myanmar migrant workers in Thailand. A
