As insurance and reinsurance events around the world return to ‘in person’ from ‘virtual’, the most important event in the APAC reinsurance calendar opens for bookings.
Registrations for the Singapore International Reinsurance Conference (SIRC) have opened on the 18th SIRC website at
https://www.sirc.com.sg.
Registrants can save S$300 ($217) when they sign up during the early registration phase which ends at midnight SGT on 31 August. The website also contains links for overseas delegates to make reservation for guest rooms at Marina Bay Sands Singapore at specially contracted rates during the event, which is scheduled to run from 31 October until 3 November 2022 at the Sands Expo and Convention Centre.
Industry practitioners can also find details of the various partnership and meeting facilities packages for the event on the website.
“The theme for the 18th SIRC 2022 will be ‘RE-CONNECTING … RE-SHAPING THE FUTURE!’,” said SRA executive director Jeffrey Yeo. “This strong support reflects the positive sentiment of the industry after enduring two years of restrictions and disruptions to lives and livelihoods forced upon us by the COVID-19 outbreak. There is certainly ‘pent-up’ demand to re-connect in-person with clients, business partners and colleagues.”
SRA chairman Marc Haushofer said, “The second part of the theme addresses the challenges that the industry faces today, with looming inflation, economic disruptions, geopolitical tensions being thrown into the mix as the industry seeks to reshape itself amidst the global movement towards net zero sustainability and climate resilience. We are putting together a conference programme comprising a blend of keynotes, fireside chats, panel discussions and roundtables to dissect these issues, some of which could be curated by SRA’s WiRE sub-committee as well as the ‘next generation’ practitioners.”
Off to a strong start
Industry leaders that have already signed up during the ‘soft launch’ phase include Lloyd’s as bilateral meeting room partner; Munich Re as technology partner; Allianz Re, Gallagher Re and Guy Carpenter as gold partners; Catlin Re Switzerland (AXA XL), Korean Re and Odyssey Re as silver partners.
Allianz Re regional CEO and head of P&C client management Kenrick Law told
Asia Insurance Review, “The pandemic in the past two years has changed our lifestyle and the way we interact. While the impact of the pandemic is still lingering, the risk landscape of our industry continues to evolve. After two years of hiatus, 2022 SIRC will finally be an in-person event. I very much look forward to seeing our business partners to exchange ideas and discuss on the latest industry trend. Let’s ReConnect!”
Gallagher Re managing director, Asia Pacific Mark Morley said, “Gallagher Re is proud to be a gold sponsor and supporter of the 2022 SIRC. Recognition of the importance of reconnection is particularly apt for the team ... As is the theme of reshaping the future. We can’t wait to reconnect at SIRC to focus on the future with clients and markets alike.”
Munich Re chief executive Asia Pacific – Japan, India, Korea, Southeast Asia Roland Eckl said, “Munich Re is proud to be the technology partner for this year’s SIRC. The return to an in-person event with a virtual component is indicative of the changing environment we operate in now – where technology plays such a critical role in our industry. Whilst technology has kept our industry resilient through the pandemic; I look forward to meeting our clients, partners and industry friends at the event. The vibrancy and energy experienced at previous in-person editions of the conference undoubtedly cannot be replaced by a purely virtual format. With SRA and other partners, Munich Re is committed to making this year’s SIRC a success that hopefully signifies a clear path in a post-pandemic economy.”
Asia Insurance Review is the official media partner of the SIRC for 2022 – with regular updates on the progress of the work of the SIRC executive committee featuring in AIR’s various media.
As in previous years, the Asia Insurance Industry Awards 2022 gala dinner will be held in Marina Bay Sands on the evening of 31 October to coincide with the start of the SIRC. A
