Tokio Marine Holdings (TMH) has said that it aims to construct a high-quality medical provision system for pets and contribute to the stable and efficient management of veterinary clinics.
To this end, the group established a 100% subsidiary Tokio Marine Well Design in October 2024 to provide a group purchasing service for pharmaceuticals to veterinary clinics.
TMH said in a statement, “In recent years, the awareness of security and safety for both pet owners in Japan and their pets has significantly increased. Until now, Tokio Marine Group has entered a capital and business alliance with Anicom Insurance, Inc for the development and provision of pet insurance products and solutions. Together, we have commenced the sale of pet insurance.”
It added, “In the field of pet healthcare, various issues have come to light, such as the shortage of veterinary personnel and the rising medical costs due to the increasing procurement costs of pharmaceuticals. Aiming to create a society where pet owners and their pets can live safely and healthily, Tokio Marine Well Design has newly launched services to support the operational efficiency of veterinary hospitals and reduce the procurement costs of pharmaceuticals through the ‘Group Purchasing Service for Pharmaceutical and Related Items’.” A
