Total gross premiums in Cambodia's insurance sector hit $35.2m in August this year, up 9.24% from August 2024 (2024: $32.2m), according to news platform The Khmer Times. The news platform reported on data from the Insurance Regulator of Cambodia (IRC).

Life insurance recorded growth of 4.23% to $19.6m, while general insurance saw an increase of 16.28% percent to $15.5m during the same period, said the news platform.

IRC director general Bou Chanphirou highlighted the growth and governance improvements of the country’s insurance segment, saying to The Khmer Times, “Insurance penetration and insurance density numbers illustrate that the Cambodian insurance market has potential room for further growth.”

According to the article, Mr Bou also reaffirmed the IRC’s commitment to strengthening the rule of law in the insurance sector, building trust among the population and ensuring that coverage remains an inclusive tool for financial protection.
