April International and Sompo join forces to expand IPMI across Asia-Pacific

International health insurer April International and property and casualty insurer Sompo have entered into a partnership to expand international private medical insurance (IPMI) offerings across the Asia-Pacific region.

The collaboration combines April’s IPMI expertise, distribution network, and customer-first approach with Sompo’s strong regional presence and underwriting capabilities.

Under the agreement, both firms will develop differentiated IPMI solutions, integrating underwriting, claims management, and assistance services to provide innovative, flexible, and regionally relevant offerings in Singapore. Expansion into additional Asia-Pacific markets is planned, with the first joint products expected to launch in December 2025.

April International CEO for Asia and the Middle East Romain Di Meglio said, “This partnership represents an opportunity to accelerate April International’s growth. Sompo’s regional expertise will help us continue delivering high-quality, accessible health solutions to individuals, SMEs, and organisations across the region, while reinforcing our long-term commitment to a best-in-class experience for our partners and customers.”

Sompo APAC Consumer Lines President Bill Zhang added, “This collaboration marks a significant milestone in our strategy to be the preferred partner in our customers’ pursuit of health, wellbeing, and financial protection across Asia-Pacific.”
