President Lai Ching-te (???) announced on Monday that Taiwan's National Health Insurance budget is projected to reach a record NT$1tn (approximately $31.8bn) next year.
This budget is allocated annually to sustain Taiwan's universal health insurance system, which covers 99.9% of the population.
The funding is intended to support nearly all services, enabling individuals to access clinics, receive hospital care, and obtain affordable treatments, as stated by the Cabinet.
Lai highlighted that the government would prioritise three key healthcare initiatives in the coming year. The first initiative focuses on enhancing holistic care and chronic disease management, which includes improving medical and home care services for children aged 0–6, according to CTEE.
The second priority is to enhance working conditions for medical personnel by increasing consultation fees and expanding nursing capacity. The third priority involves advancing telemedicine and digital transformation to improve accessibility, especially in rural areas.
He said the government will continue investing in healthcare services and accelerate digital upgrades.
