Sri Lanka's regulator signs MoU with police to address finance offences

The Insurance Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka (IRCSL), Sri Lanka's insurance regulator, has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Sri Lanka Police.

According to a statement by the IRCSL, the MoU was signed in order to facilitate information sharing and cooperation on investigations and prosecutions of money laundering, terrorist financing and other related offences.

IRCSL Director General Damayanthi Fernando and Police Inspector General Priyantha Weerasooriya signed the MOU on behalf of the respective institutions in the presence of industry persons, including IRCSL Chairman Dr Ajith De Mel, IRCSL Director – Legal and Enforcement Rajan Nirubasingham and other senior officers of the Sri Lanka Police.
