Community-acquired pneumonia III topped the medical conditions with the highest payouts from the Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth) in the first half of 2026, receiving PHP12.76bn ($215.1m) in healthcare claim payments.
PhilHealth said in a 3 September statement that it released a total of PHP210.09bn in healthcare claim payments from January to June, helping millions of Filipinos cover medical expenses.
In a public advisory, the state health insurer said cerebral infarction, commonly known as stroke, ranked second with PHP2.76bn in claims, followed by acute gastroenteritis at PHP1.96bn.
Other conditions with substantial payouts included dengue with warning signs at PHP1.78bn and urinary tract infections at PHP1.60bn.
These were followed by stage 2 hypertension at PHP1.10bn, stage 5 chronic kidney disease at PHP1.05bn, bronchial asthma at PHP978.18m, malignant hypertension at PHP975.20m, and other cases of acute gastritis at PHP910.34m.
