Markel has appointed Ms Alvernia Xu as head of operations - APAC; Ms Anna Tan as senior underwriter, fine art and specie; Ms Isabelle Wong as cargo underwriter; Ms Jenny Choi as senior underwriter, casualty and Ms Olga Wong as senior underwriter, professional financial risk.
Ms Xu, Ms Isabelle Wong and Ms Olga Wong join Markel in Singapore. Ms Tan and Ms Choi join Markel in Hong Kong.
In her new role, Ms Xu will ensure that Markel has best-in-class operational infrastructure to underpin its growth plans, improving efficiency both for clients and team members. She joins Markel from Liberty Specialty Markets.
Ms Tan’s connectivity and track record across Asia will help to strengthen Markel’s profile in fine art and specie insurance in the region. She joins Markel from Hamilton Insurance Group.
In her new role, Ms Isabelle Wong will be responsible for developing and underwriting marine cargo business in APAC. She joins Markel from WTW.
Ms Choi brings extensive experience of underwriting a wide range of casualty risks. She joins Markel from Swiss Re.
Ms Olga Wong brings 20 years of experience in financial lines underwriting across Asia. She joins Markel from AXA XL.
