Thailand:Regulator's project achieves better-than-expected results

| 05 Jun 2025

Launched to ring in the new semester for students at Ranong and Mukdahan provinces, a project titled "Insurefluencer the new GEN" has received better-than-expected feedback, said Office of the Insurance Commission (OIC) deputy secretary-general for the supervision of intermediaries and regional insurance Wasumdee Wasinon.

The event encourages youth to understand the importance of coverage in daily life and use their creativity and communication skills to effectively convey knowledge of insurance to their families, communities and society.

Ms Wasumdee noted that the project functioned as an opportunity in learning and inspiration for youth as well, as it could develop their creativity, enhance communication and technology skills, and deepen their understanding of ethics, risk management, financial knowledge and insurance products through fun activities.

For instance, students are also able to participate in a competition where winners have the opportunity to join some special activities with the OIC and insurance business sector.

The OIC highlighted that more than 210 participating educational institutions participated this year, up from the original one school per province to three schools. The number also included vocational groups.

According to the regulator, hundreds of students participated alongside life insurers, non-life insurance companies, district chiefs and even the provincial treasury, provincial transport offices, among others.

The project is an extension of the “Insurance Youth Genius Project”, launched in 2024, when the OIC recognised the potential and power of the upcoming generation who grew up with communication technology and played an important role in driving Thai society into the digital age.
