Effective 1 July 2026, HDI Global will appoint Mr Thomas Kropp as COO/CIO. He will take over from Executive Board member Dr Thomas Kuhnt, who has personally decided to step down on 30 June 2026 in order to take up a new professional opportunity outside the Talanx Group.
Consequently, HDI Global will adjust responsibilities on the Executive Board in line with its corporate strategy on 1 July 2026, as well.
Mr Kropp brings more than two decades of global leadership experience in insurance and technology sectors. In senior roles, he has been responsible for global IT, infrastructure and operations units at leading international companies, with professional assignments in the US, Asia and Europe. A key focus of his work has been the further development of international operating models as well as the sustainable scaling of processes and technologies in complex organisations.
As part of the board transition, the former portfolio held by Dr Kuhnt will be reshaped under Mr Kropp into a focussed COO/CIO responsibility. Further Executive Board responsibilities will be redefined, with the strategic focus area of AI anchored within the remit of the CEO. This will be reflected in the consolidation of the AI unit under Dr Edgar Puls.
Dr Renate Strasser will assume responsibility, in addition to her remit for the specialty business, for the areas of pricing and analytics previously overseen by Dr Kuhnt, as well as guidance as a cross-functional responsibility for the entire company. In addition, she will assume responsibility for the global accident and health business, which will be fully assigned to the specialty segment.
Dr Dirk Höring will additionally take over responsibility for captive services from Dr Kuhnt, alongside his existing responsibilities for property, engineering, marine and HDI Risk Consulting.
Mr David Hullin, the Executive Board member responsible for the international regions (excluding Germany and the USA), will assume responsibility for international programmes from Dr Kuhnt in addition to his current duties.
