Mr Toshiaki Sumino has assumed the position of Chairperson of the Life Insurance Association of Japan (LIAJ), effective 17 July 2026.
Mr Sumino is Executive Officer of Daiichi Life Group, since 2023, and Representative Director and President of Daiichi Life Insurance. He joined Dai-ichi Mutual Life Insurance in 1992.
In his capacity as Chairperson of the LIAJ, Mr Sumino has stated that in 2026, the association will focus on the promotion of customer-oriented business conduct, and contribute to improving financial wellbeing, and realising a sustainable and prosperous society.
