Sun Life launches new integrated platform to cater to increasingly global HNW clients

| 28 Jul 2026

Sun Life has announced the launch of Sun Life Private Wealth, an integrated platform supporting high-net-worth (HNW) and ultra-high-net-worth (uHNW) individuals, families and advisers as they build, preserve and transfer wealth across generations.

The launch reflects Sun Life’s long-term commitment to the HNW and uHNW segment, bringing its global strength, specialist expertise and multi-market capabilities into one integrated platform.

“As wealth becomes more global and family needs more complex, clients and advisers need a trusted partner that can support them across the wealth life cycle,” said Sun Life Private Wealth CEO Sujoy Ghosh.

“The reason it is becoming more complex is because clients are not looking at one asset class or one form of investment, or from that perspective of fulfilling needs from one particular jurisdiction,” he said, in an interview with Asia Insurance Review. “They are global in nature, sophisticated and often have assets, businesses and family members spread across markets.”

The launch comes as private wealth continues to grow across global markets, with Asia Pacific playing an increasingly important role. Global HNW individual wealth rose 8.7% to $98.3tn in 2025 (according to research from Capgemini’s World Wealth Report 2026), with Asia Pacific recording the highest regional growth at 10.5%. Cross border wealth also rose 8.4% globally in 2025 to $15.7tn.

“We believe that this growth will continue across the globe,” he said. “And right now, we are looking at the largest transfer of wealth in modern history that's happening in the next 20 years, with an estimated $83.5tn worth of wealth changing hands.”

Sun Life’s 2025 legacy planning research found that 67% of HNW respondents in Singapore and 44% I Hong Kong are concerned that their wealth may not be preserved beyond their children’s generation. The research also found that 89% of respondents in Singapore and 91% in Hong Kong have either previously sought professional advice for legacy planning or would like to do so in the future.

“The client is now a bit younger, 45-50 years old on average,” said Mr Ghosh. “They're looking for more transparency and flexibility. They are looking for trusted advisors who take away complexity and bring simplicity to the whole process. They are not looking at navigating different providers, different jurisdictions, but they're looking at an advisor who can give them a one stop shop, so to speak.”

He added that due to the global nature of current HNW clients, they access different needs from different jurisdictions. “With this in mind, we look ourselves internally and said, how do we then respond and organize ourselves better. And one of the things that the clients and the distributors were regularly telling us was that the client is looking for a single integrated platform,” he said.

Sun Life has also observed that their clients are looking across jurisdictions; one jurisdiction to cover their protection needs another jurisdiction for their savings and wealth accumulation needs and another jurisdiction for passing on.

“Different jurisdictions have different strengths, so we can customize our solutions to the clients' needs,” he said.

This new integrated platform has also allowed for clients to have trust in the process and have a degree of certainty in liquidity. “They know, and can control, how much, who, when and where the money goes to, and they can trust that the wealth ends up exactly where it needs to be,” he said.

“Over the past 18 months, we have brought our capabilities closer together through a single intake and underwriting platform, harmonised processes and forms, and round-the-clock support. The result is a more connected global business that delivers a more seamless experience for distribution partners and their clients, with the complexity of navigating markets resting with us, not them.”

Sun Life Private Wealth is now serving more than 10,000 HNW uHNW clients, with over 13,000 policies in force across the business and total sum assured of over $63bn.  This is supported by a broad distribution network. Sun Life Private Wealth works with over 120 distributors, reflecting the depth of its relationships with private banks, brokers and other specialist partners who advise HNW families across the region.

Since bringing its HNW businesses together into a connected platform, Sun Life Private Wealth has seen a meaningful improvement in processes and case management. Sun Life Private Wealth has eliminated duplicate case creation across locations. This has enabled a single case journey, reduced manual intervention, and improved efficiency. It has also simplified the application process by standardising supplementary forms across all Sun Life Private Wealth hubs. In underwriting, Sun Life Private Wealth has introduced AI-powered document extraction for key forms. This helps accelerate document review and improves the efficiency and consistency of underwriting assessments.

He added that demand is growing equally across protection, transfer and savings solutions.
