MS Amlin has appointed Ms Laura Hobern as Chief Actuary, effective 4Q2026 and subject to regulatory approval.
In her new role, Ms Hobern will oversee all actuarial operations, including reserving and pricing, ensuring actuarial insight supports strategic decision-making, financial resilience and sustainable growth.
She brings more than 20 years of industry experience and has previously held senior actuarial positions at Milliman, Hiscox and Brit Insurance. She began her career at Swiss Re. Ms Hobern joins MS Amlin from consultancy firm LCP, where she is a Partner advising insurance boards and executive teams on actuarial, risk and strategy.
Ms Hobern serves on the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries’ General Insurance Board and is also Deputy Chair of the London Market Actuaries’ Group.
MS Amlin’s current Chief Actuary, Mr Paul Lucas, has been appointed to the newly created role of Underwriting Portfolio Director.
In his new role, Mr Lucas will bring together insight from across the business to help shape MS Amlin’s underwriting appetite, portfolio strategy and capital allocation decisions.
