Sri Lanka:Regulator appoints new commission members

Sri Lanka's insurance regulator, the Insurance Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka, has appointed Mr DWS Waidyarathne, Mr GAS Jayaratna and Mr RC Kotte Hewa as commission members.

At present, Mr Waidyarathne serves as the coordinating secretary to the governor of the Southern Province. He also serves as a council member of the University of Ruhuna. He holds a master of business administration from Cardiff University, UK and has extensive experience.

Prior, Mr Waidyarathne served in the education sector. He is a founding member of EFLA Academy.

Mr Jayaratna has over 34 years of experience. He has held various academic roles at both local and international educational institutions. He holds a master of international relations from the University of Colombo, a Master of Laws from Deakin University in Melbourne, Australia, and a special bachelor of arts in philosophy with honours and a second-class upper division from the University of Peradeniya.

Mr Jayaratna also holds a certificate in human rights from the Institute of Human Rights in Strasbourg and has followed a diploma in forensic medicine at the University of Colombo as well.

Mr Kotte Hewa brings 20 years of experience. He holds a special bachelor of science in accountancy and financial management with honours and a master of science in management accountancy from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura

Mr Kotte Hewa is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka, an Associate Member of the Chartered Management Accountants, UK and an Associate Member of the Certified Management Accountants of Sri Lanka.
