Cambodia's regulator, the Insurance Regulator of Cambodia (IRC), has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the ACLEDA University of Business (AUB).
According to news platform the Khmer Times, the MoU serves a dual purpose: to raise insurance awareness in the country, as well as develop human resources for Cambodia’s growing insurance industry.
At the signing ceremony, IRC Director General Bou Chanphirou pinpointed the challenges facing the country’s insurance segment, namely limited public understanding, and a shortage of qualified professionals.
Cambodia’s insurance industry has been expanding steadily over the years, with gross premiums hitting $367m in 2025, a 2.8% increase from 2024.
According to Mr Chanphirou, the IRC’s collaboration with AUB will help equip students with practical knowledge of the insurance industry, and also prepare them for employment opportunities as the sector continues to grow. He also expressed confidence that the collaboration would contribute to the sustainable development of Cambodia’s insurance market.
