With the monsoon season coinciding with the start of the 2025 academic year in schools, the Office of the Insurance Commission (OIC) has noted that students, as well as the general public, are at risk of falling ill with various strains of influenza, including COVID-19.
The regulator has also pointed out that on top of illness, affected parties will also have to cope with medical expenses.
As a result, the OIC is promoting health insurance as an important method to manage the risk of illness, pointing out that available policies are diverse in terms of premiums, coverage amounts, various benefits and exceptions due to chronic illnesses.
The regulator has also urged members of the public not covered by health insurance, or looking for risk management tools for themselves and/or family, to take a close look at each policy, to see if it suits their needs.
