Kyrgyzstan does not have sufficient coverage of compulsory motor insurance in order to introduce Europrotocol for reporting traffic accidents.
As a result, the initiative has been postponed, according to an article by news platform Akchabar. The article quoted the Financial Market Regulation and Supervision Service, the country’s regulator.
Figures quoted in the article from the regulator show that approximately 61% of vehicle owners in Kyrgyzstan maintain compulsory motor third-party liability insurance policies to date. Despite this, the Europrotocol system needs at least 80% of vehicles to be registered before enactment.
Europrotocol is a mobile app developed for the convenient and fast online reporting of road accidents without the involvement of the police or an insurance agent.
